Public Prosecution Charges Sheikh Al-Khadran with Inciting Hatred Against Constitutional System

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Public Prosecutor's Office said that it raised against the Imam of Fatima Zahraa Mosque, Sheikh Aziz Al-Khadran, charges of insulting and inciting hatred against the "constitutional system" during his Friday sermon.

The Head Prosecutor of the Northern Governorate, Mohamed Salah, said that the public prosecution had received a communication from the Police Security Department of the Northern Governorate, that a preacher is "insulting the constitutional system of Bahrain during his Friday sermon."

He added that the prosecution launched investigations, examined the sermon and questioned the accused Sheikh in the presence of his lawyer. The prosecution further confronted the Sheikh with the contents of his speech and ordered his release on the condition of his stay at a specified place of residence, after charging him with inciting hatred against the island Kingdom's constitutional regime. Investigations are still underway in this case.
