Prosecution Jails 13 Defendants Pending Interrogations over “Expired Milk” Case

Bahrain Mirror: The Public Prosecution said that it ordered the imprisonment of 13 suspects over case of selling expired milk. Meanwhile, it released one of the suspects due to his age and his health conditions, stressing that investigations are still ongoing.

Chief Prosecutor for Ministries and Governmental Directorates, Advocate General Mamdouh Al-Maawda said that it confiscated milk products belonging to one of the private institutions, stating that the milk does not conform to content specifications. He added that those running the farm used to buy expired or about to be expired milk and store the quantities before selling them as fresh milk.

He said that the Public Prosecution and concerned authorities, including Health Ministry and Commerce Ministry were notified. He further stated that in accordance to an order by the Public Prosecution, the branches of the shop were shutdown, while legal proceedings are being taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
