Detained Cancer Patient Elias Mullah "Prefers Death to Humiliation over Medical Treatment"

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Family of detained Bahraini Elias Mullah, who suffers from colon cancer, said that he no longer wants treatment as a result of the degrading treatment he is subjected to by the Jaw Prison administration.
Mullah was diagnosed with cancer after the torture he endured at the hands of Jordanian officer Isa Al-Majali, and has since been "suffering from humiliation for receiving treatment more than the agony of the disease itself."
Al-Mullah's mother said that the prison administration refused (October 16, 2017) to hand over her son's samples to the Salmaniya hospital without mentioning the reason, noting that he had not received treatment for more than a month and a half.
At least five detainees have died in prison due to medical negligence. This; however, did not succeed in prompting the prison authorities to change their procedures concerning this issue, as if they wanted to get rid of the prisoners,
Mullah's mother further pointed out that he refused to respond to any talk about treatment, saying he preferred "death to the humiliation" he was subjected to. "I will stop my treatment completely until God interferes."
"The Jaw Prison administration must look at his condition as a humanitarian case and release him immediately if they are interested in keeping him alive," his mother said. "Otherwise, they do not want him to live."
