Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's top Shiite clerics described in a statement the decision to "overrule the death sentences" of those accused of plotting to assassinate the army chief as "a welcomed and praised step."
The clerics hoped that "this step will be extended to the rest of the convicts," in their statement, released on Thursday (April 26, 2018), adding that they were looking "to a homeland where no prisoner remains."
"We call for a homeland of love and tolerance, a homeland of justice and prosperity," they added. "All we plead [Allah] is for a homeland that enjoys safety and security."
The statement was signed by prominent Shiite cleric Abdullah Al-Ghuraifi, Sheikh Abdul Hussein Al-Sitri, Sheikh Mohammed Saleh Al-Rubaie and Sheikh Mohammad Sanqour.
