Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the largest opposition political group in Bahrain, said that the marks and consequences of the massacre committed by the Bahraini regime a year ago still continue to this day, despite the United Nations' demand to investigate the massacre. The regime; however, ignores these calls and continues to escalate the situation and punish the people of Bahrain, its religious leaders and all its citizens due to their demands for justice, equality, democracy and respect for human rights.

Al-Wefaq said in a statement that the site of the massacre is still besieged and surrounded by military and security forces, while the regime is imposing a house arrest on the largest religious authority in Bahrain, Sheikh Isa Qassim, and continues to block the entire area of ​​Diraz. A number of detainees are still behind bars, as dozens suffer from disabilities or injuries in various parts of their bodies. The regime also continues to imprison the head of the largest religious body, Majeed Al-Mashaal, the head of the Ulama Islamic Council, who was arrested for voicing solidarity with Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim.

Al-Wefaq added that the regime is practicing this official organized crime in an attempt to create an atmosphere of terror and fear for the people of Bahrain and aims at subjugating Bahrainis and making them back down from their demands for basic and natural rights for a decent life and justice.

Rights activist Sheikh Maitham Al-Salman described in a news conference yesterday the extent of the crime, which was a mass execution of a number of those who stood in solidarity with His Eminence Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim.

Al-Wefaq called on the world to take action "to save the people of Bahrain after the absence of justice and law and after the official acts of killings turned into a systematic policy in addition to the remaining violations and crimes committed without any accountability."

The group further stressed that the Bahraini people are continuing their peaceful movement to demand a democratic shift in power, justice and building of a state of institutions and law instead of a state of monopoly, tyranny, crimes and collective punishment of those demanding their rights.
