Bahrain Mirror: After suffering and canceling all his medical appointments outside the prison for about 8 months, the "Jaw Prison" administration allowed prisoner of conscience Abdulwahab Hussein to visit the dental clinic at "Al-Qalaa Hospital", on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
Sayed Ahmed Al-Wadaei, director of the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD), said, "This development comes after Abdulwahab Hussain met with a doctor in prison and discussed the health challenges he suffers from."
"Restricting the medical appointments of Abdulwahab Hussein, who is old and needs a cane to walk, violates international standards for the treatment of prisoners," Al-Wadaei said, demanding that "this measure be applied to the rest of the figures, specifically Sheikh Abduljalil Al-Miqdad and Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja.
Abdulwahab Hussein's deteriorating health and denial of treatment led to prison unrest and protests in the country, followed by questioning raised by British parliamentarians and human rights organizations to the government of Bahrain.
