Bahrain’s Anti-Corruption Dept. Receives 657 Reports on Hotline in 2015

Bahrain Mirror: The General-Director of the Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security Directorate, Bassam Al-Me'raj, said that the directorate received 657 reports on the national anti-corruption hotline during 2015, including reports on corruption suspicion, online and economic crimes as well as fraud and other crimes.
In an interview with Al-Wasat newspaper, Al-Me'raj said that "the directorate records the complaints or reports according to a program designed for this purpose and then they are presented to specialized officials who direct the competent authorities to collect data, and investigate the validity of the information mentioned in the complaints. If they are linked to corruption, experts, witnesses and suspects are summoned and the rest of the legal measures are taken."
As for the suspected corruption cases listed in the Audit and Financial and Administrative Control Bureau report during 2013 and 2014, Me'raj said that the "25 cases of violations were referred to the Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security Directorate and all necessary legal measure were made."
