Bahrain Mirror: A Bahraini court sentenced on Sunday (January 17, 2016) to life imprisonment three protesters, whom the Bahraini Interior Ministry had accused of attempting to murder policemen in the village of Diraz, west of the Bahraini capital Manama.
Attorney-General Ahmad Al-Hammadi, Chief of Bahrain's Terrorist Crime Prosecution, said that the charges raised against the defendants were based on the confessions of the suspects and the statements of police officers.
International reports have previously stated that the judicial system in Bahrain follows government commands, and that the Criminal Investigations Department tortures detainees, regularly, to extract incriminating confessions.
