Bahrain Mirror: The former Member of Bahraini Parliament Ali Al-Aswad stated that the "Bahraini opposition is serious and has alternatives," adding that "the regime is the one that does not have any initiatives."

Regarding the West's stance, Al-Aswad said in a statement on the LuaLua TV on the February 14 anniversary "there is clear division between Washington and London on how to address the Bahraini situation. The stances also varied among European Union countries."

"The Bahrainis have proven day after day that they have the ability to peacefully stand steadfast on the ground," he stressed.

"We will face an important phase in Geneva where the Bahraini file will be addressed," Al-Aswad added.

He continued to say that "the unity of the factions of the opposition and their demands is one of the most important outcomes of political activism. We believe that the Manama Document includes the main principles that the Bahrainis hope to achieve."

"The opposition is serious and has alternatives and proposed visions; however, the authorities do not have any initiatives. The flexibility of the opposition is manifested in its proposals offered at the dialogue table and its discussion of the principles of the Manama Document," Al-Aswad noted.

He further stated that "there should be steps to build real confidence that the regime lacks in order to prepare an atmosphere suitable for dialogue."

The former MP, Ali Alaswad, also stressed that "it was unveiled that the regime addresses the crises one at a time and that's why it is failing. It has failed to address the economic, educational and social issues. The authorities do not wish to have mutual grounds with the opposition."
