Bahrain Mirror: Thousands of mourners took part in a funeral procession held in the Bahraini capital Manama on Tuesday (March 22, 2016) for the prominent Bahraini Shiite cleric Sayed Jawad Al-Wedai, who passed away on Monday in the Salmaniya Hospital after a struggle with illness.
A number of Bahrain's top clerics, namely Sheikh Isa Ahmad Qassem, joined the procession.
Al-Wedai was one of the leading clerics who took stance in solidarity with the February 14 uprising that sought putting an end to the ruling Al Khalifa family's monopoly over power.
Al-Wedai had also called in the 1990s for the restoration of the parliament.
