Bahrain Mirror: The United States Department of State once again called for the release of detained Bahraini activist Zainab Al-Khawaja and her infant son, one month after the Bahraini foreign minister announced in a press conference held in Manama with his US counterpart John Kerry that his government intends to release Al-Khawaja for humanitarian purposes.
The US State Department was also asked during the daily press briefing about detainee Khalil Al-Halwachi, yet gave no response.
A reporter asked the Deputy Spokesperson, Mark C. Toner, whether the US embassy is planning to send anyone to the scheduled court verdict for opposition activist Khalil Halwachi, "who's been in prison for a while."
Toner; however, responded to the second question regarding the one month anniversary of the date of when the Bahraini foreign minister announced that Zainab Al-Khawaja will be released. "We'll use this anniversary, one-month anniversary, to urge the Government of Bahrain to follow through with its publicly announced plans to release her," he said.
In response to another question, Toner further noted that the pledge made by the foreign minister has not been fulfilled.
