Bahrain Mirror: Family of detained Shiite cleric Sheikh Mohammad Al-Mansi said that the "Sheikh has been held in solitary confinement since almost 3 weeks ago," urging prison authorities to "return him to the prison cellblock with the rest of the inmates."
The family expressed its shock regarding the justifications given for placing Sheikh Al-Mansi in solitary confinement as the authorities said it was "for health and medical reasons," stressing that "he was in a good health condition before his arrest. He was not suffering from any contagious or non-contagious diseases and he was detained with the other inmates since the first day of his imprisonment. However, he was transferred to solitary confinement 3 days later."
The family further stressed that "holding Al-Mansi in solitary confinement for almost 3 weeks is illegal and leads to severe psychological problems, especially that he is detained, pending investigation in a case raised against him."
It is noteworthy that the authorities summoned Sheikh Al-Mansi on Friday (April 15, 2015) to Hamad Town police station, decided to detain him (for 48 hours) and refer him to the Public Prosecution over charges of leading Friday prayers and delivering a Friday sermon without a license.
The third minor criminal court presided over by judge Jaber Al-Jazzar and Hussein Hamad as secretariat decided on Monday (May 2, 2016) to adjourn the case of Sheikh Al-Mansi until May 19, 2016 and refused to release him.
