Bahrain mirror: Lawyer Abdullah Al-Shamlawi said that he filed a request to the court of cassation to challenge the verdict issued against opposition leader and Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, Sheikh Ali Salman.
"We submitted a request to the court of cassation challenging the verdict issued against Sheikh Ali Salman and requested to set a session to look into halting the sentence execution as soon as possible," said Al-Shamlawi, a member of Sheikh Salman's defense team, on his personal Twitter account.
An appeals court toughened the sentence against Sheikh Ali Salman and increased his 4-year jail term to 9 on May 30, 2016.
