Bahrain Mirror: The Kuwaiti Criminal Court sentenced on Wednesday (July 27, 2016) MP Abdulhameed Dashti in absentia to 11 years and 6 months in prison in state security case over the charge of "insulting Saudi Arabia", in addition to another 3 years in prison over the charge of "insulting Bahrain."
"It's one of the strangest trials in absentia," said Dashti commenting on the court verdict.
Dashti is well-known for his pro-Bahraini uprising stances and opposition to the Saudi-led aggression led on Yemen.
This as the Kuwaiti foreign ministry raised a legal complaint against Dashti after his appearance on a Syrian TV channel on February 24, 2016, during which he accused Saudi Arabia of supporting terrorism.
