Bahrain Mirror: The Deputy Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq, Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi, said that the authorities' move to dissolve Al-Wefaq, the largest political society in Bahrain, and liquidate its funds is a dangerous step.
Al-Daihi stressed in a statement on Thursday (September 22, 2016) that Bahrain "has entered a stage darker than that of the past years after restriction of political activism and eradication of civil society institutions as well as the prevailing of sectarian persecution."
He further noted that Al-Wefaq has the legitimacy and it proved that in the parliamentary, municipal, labor and students' elections. Al-Wefaq garnered 64% of votes in the 2006 and 2010 parliamentary elections.
The Deputy Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq concluded his statement by stressing that "Wefaqis will keep their promise to all the honorable people of Bahrain from various sects and groups by carrying on their national struggle hand in hand and strive until reaching a real state based on true, logical and humanitarian principles as well as justice, partnership, and accountability."
