Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini security forces continued targeting the Shiite majority in the country, this time by removing Ashura flags and banners in at least 7 areas across Bahrain, according to information circulated by activists on social media networks.

The sources noted that security forces arrested 4 citizens in the town of Sadad, who were protesting the repressive practices of the authorities against the Shiite Ashura commemoration rituals. These detained citizens were Ahmad Jassem al-Abed, Mohammad Jassem al-Abed, Hamed Jassem al-Abed, and Abdullah Isa Abbass.

According to activists, government forces raided each of "Karana, Abusaybeh, Sadad, Shaherkan, al-Malikiya, and Sitra." They took down banners and posters that read religious slogans, usually raised in the lunar Islamic month of Muharram each year, in commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib (PBUH), the third of the Shia Imams.

The Shia citizens who represent the majority of the population  in the country suffer many oppressive measures targeting their freedoms of belief and expression, and also face discrimination in both the labor and education sectors. The United Nations and the United Stated of America have always criticized these violations.
