Bahrain Mirror: A Salafist minister denied that Bahrain was occupied by Britain, stressing that Bahrain has been independent since Al Khalifa family came to Bahrain in 1783.
Shura Council and Parliament Affairs Minister Ghanim Al Buainain said "Bahrain has been independent since the entry of Ahmad Al-Fateh in 1783. There is no British colonization; there was a protection agreement between Bahrain and Britain."
Al-Buainain words came in an intervention in the House of Representatives on Tuesday (October 25, 2016) in response to the minister Majed Al-Majed who expressed his concern over "falsifying Bahrain's history".
However, Al-Buainain replied to Al-Majed insisting that Bahrain's history was not falsified, explaining that "there was a protection agreement between Bahrain and Britain in specific affairs."
