Enas Oun Leaves Interrogation over Charges of “Assembly,” Al-Saffar Summoned for Questioning

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Public Prosecution summoned on Sunday (November 13, 2016) human rights activist Ahmad Al-Saffar for questioning, while head of the documentation department at the Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR), activist Enas Oun, left the interrogation unit.

The Public Prosecution accused Oun of staging an assembly in the al-Dair area on June 20, 2016. Oddly enough, the prosecution claimed that the assembly was held at 11:45 pm, although protests are not often staged late at night.

Oun's summoning comes as part of a new campaign launched by the authorities, in order to create new retaliatory cases against opposition and rights activists to ban them from traveling outside the country.

The United Nations and Washington had expressed their concern over the Bahraini authorities' unjustified travel bans imposed on activists, which are aimed at preventing them from attending the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva.
