Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa expressed Bahrain's "high appreciation of Saudi Arabia's unlimited support" offered to Bahrain.
Khalifa bin Salman's comments came on Wednesday (November 16, 2016) upon receiving Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who visited Bahrain to take part in the conclusion of the Gulf Security 1 exercises held in the Bahraini capital, Manama.
The Bahraini PM lauded what he described as "the initiatives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in boosting the GCC and Arab unity."
He further praised "the honourable stances of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in defending Arab and Islamic issues."
Saudi Arabia and the UAE sent military forces to Bahrain in March 2011 to crush pro-democracy protests that broke out in Manama, which was the heart of the protest movement in the island kingdom.
The entrance of Saudi and Emirati troops left dozens of demonstrators killed or injured. The move was denounced by the opposition that still calls for the withdrawal of these Saudi-led forces in order to make way for political reconciliation to end the raging six-year-long crisis in the country.
