Court Upholds Death Penalty against 3 Defendants over Killing Emirati Officer during Crackdown on Bahrain Protests

Bahrain Mirror: A Bahraini Appeal Court upheld on Sunday (December 4, 2016) sentencing three defendants to death, five others to life imprisonment, and stripping eight of their nationalities over murder case of an officer and two policemen in Al-Daih.

The Sixth High Appeal Court, presided over by judge Ibrahim Al-Zayed, had issued a unanimous decision to hand down the death penalty to three defendants, life sentences to five others and revoke the citizenships of eight others over charges of killing an officer and two policemen in Al-Daih.

The Bahraini Fourth High Criminal Court had issued a verdict on February 26, 2015, sentencing Sami Mushaima, Abbas Al-Sameea and Ali Abdulshaheed Al-Singace to death over charges of killing three policemen, including Emirati officer Tarek Al-Shohi, on March 3, 2014 in the village of Al-Daih.
