Bahrain Mirror: The Sixth Supreme Criminal Court of Appeal upheld the verdict ruling the 10-year imprisonment and citizenship revocation of 18-year-old defendant accused of training on making and using weapons in Iran.

The defendant, along with another, were convicted for training, in the Iranian cities of Tehran and Qom, on using and making weapons to use for terrorist purposes in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The appellant, who was arrested upon his arrival to Bahrain International Airport after returning from Iran, confessed during the interrogation with the Public Prosecution, that his friend, the second defendant, is a fugitive, and that he suggested he trains on weapons in the Iranian cities, according to Prosecution information.

Information further claimed that the appellant confessed to receiving training in Iranian military camps, where he was trained on how to create and use weapons, and conduct raids and mange in guerrilla wars.

Human rights organizations challenge the charges raised against political detainees, since they doubt the independence of the judiciary, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, and since it issues sentences based on confessions extracted under duress and evidence presented by secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
