45 Arrested in Vast Security Raid Following "Jaw" Prison Break

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) said it has documented a total of 45 arbitrary arrests, among them 1 child, from various areas in Bahrain, in the period between 2 to 8 January 2017.
The authorities have launched a vast security campaign following the Jaw Central Prison break, which was reported to have occurred in collusion with the prison guards.
Head of the monitoring and documentation unit at the BCHR, Inas Aoun said that the security authorities arrested 37 Bahrainis after raiding their homes, while 7 others were arrested at checkpoints.
Moreover Aoun added that a total of 39 marches took place in 20 villages in Bahrain calling for democracy in the country, indicating that 5 marches were attacked by the riot police.
On the level of judicial verdicts, Aoun said that a total of 22 persons have been judged in 11 politically motivated cases through both primary and appeal courts. She also indicated that the verdicts sum was 73.3 years of prison, with fines amounting to 386 thousand Bahraini Dinars.
