Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Court of Appeal upheld a first degree verdict ruling the 15-year imprisonment of 3 accused of bombing and setting fire to the Formula 1 petrol station. The court also upheld a 3-year prison sentence against a fourth defendant. A combined sum of 11,767 Dinars in fines was imposed to be paid by the defendants.

Bahraini Authorities claim that on November 13, 2014, five masked men attacked the Formula 1 Gas Station at around 2:00 am. A security communique reporting the incident claimed that the defendants vandalized petrol pumps and damaged the station after burning tires, and thus causing fire in the station.

Human rights organizations challenge the charges raised against political detainees, since they doubt the independence of the judiciary, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, and since it issues sentences based on confessions extracted under duress and evidence presented by secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
