Bahrain Mirror: Thousands of angry mourners in Sanabis took part Friday (March 17, 2017) in the funeral procession of martyr Mohammad Sahwan (45 years old), who died in prison last Thursday.

Sahwan was serving a 15-year prison verdict on charges of being involved with what's known as the "Qatar Cell".

Angry mourners shouted slogans against the Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, whom they deem responsible for violations in Bahraini prisons. Mourners clashed with regime forces, which attacked the crowd with teargas canisters.

Sahwan was arrested on November 2011, and he remained under the prison's medical neglect despite having 80 shrapnel in his head, as a result of shotgun bullets fired by forces in Sanabis protests in April 2011.

The Ministry of Interior said in a report that Sahwan died while he was performing physical exercises in the reform and rehabilitation center at Jaw Prison, adding that preliminary information say that he died of natural causes.
