Bahrain Court Hands down 10-15 Year Prison Terms to Three defendants, Strips them of Nationality in Politically Motivated Case

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's fourth high criminal court sentenced on Thursday (March 30, 2017) one defendant to 15 years in prison and two others to 10 years, also revoking all the defendants' Bahraini nationalities in a politically motivated case.
The public prosecutor and head of the terrorist crimes prosecution Ahmad Al-Hammadi said that the court fined the first defendant 100,000 BD in addition to the verdict issued against him.
Bahraini authorities claim their investigations showed that elements of a terrorist group received military training on the use and manufacture of firearms and explosives and that the group receives funding from persons located outside the country, for the purpose undermine security targeting security officers. The authorities also allege that further investigations helped identify the identities of the defendants stating that one of the defendants received military training in a Iraqi Hezbollah camp in Iraq, adding that the defendant also travelled between Iraq and Iran and met with many terrorist elements, and was assigned by them to commit terrorist operations upon returning to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The authorities also claim that the other defendants provided accommodation and funding to facilitate the travel of fugitives to Iran, also supporting terrorist elements inside the Kingdom financially. The investigations claim that one of the defendants had connections with Iranian Revolutionary Guard officials and received funding from them to back Bahraini terrorist elements at large.
