Appeals Court Annuls 5-Year Prison Verdict, Acquits Defendant from Assembly Charges

Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Court of Appeals ruled in absentia the annulment of appealed 5-year prison verdict, and acquitted the defendant from charges addressed against him.
A Ministry of Interior Officer received a report informing him of an assembly of up to 80 individuals, who possessed Molotov cocktails, iron rods and stones, and blocked roads with garbage containers. The report added that the police officer was able to arrest the appellant in the place of the incident, while carrying a Molotov cocktail he was trying to set fire to. Moreover, the report said that at the place of the incident two damaged cars.
The Public Prosecution had accused the defendant, and another acquitted defendant, on April 3, 2013, or deliberately setting fire for terror purposes, and that he and others took part in an assembly of more than 5 individuals.
