Bahrain Mirror - Exclusive: Iceland demanded the government of Bahrain to abide by its international commitments and to an inclusive reconciliation process. It called for the immediate release of all prisoners of conscience who were imprisoned for practicing their right to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and protest.

In its intervention on Monday (May 1, 2017) during the 27th UPR session in Geneva on Bahrain's human rights record, Iceland expressed concern over the human rights deterioration in Bahrain, especially on the level of restricting movement of rights activists.

It called on Bahrain to allow rights organizations to visit the country and work in it without any restrictions, further noting the importance of cooperating with the UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteurs, and allowing them to visit the country.
