Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Shiites Scholars issued a statement calling on the people of Bahrain to raise their voices against the regime, and announced Sunday (May 21, 2017) to be a date of rage in Bahrain.
The statement comes after the Bahrain regime issued a verdict in Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim's case, along with 2 others, sentencing them to a suspended 1-year in prison. The court also ruled the confiscation of Khums money in Sheikh Qassim's account, two properties used to accommodate religious scholars, in addition to a BD 100,000 fine.
Bahrain's scholars believed in their letter that the regime's measure to convict and criminalize His Eminence Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, and confiscating legitimate religious rights, "is an unrecognition of the Shiite sect in its existence, beliefs, jurisprudence and religious authority."
The statement pointed out that as a result, this step represents a "threat to it, a declared war against it, and a denial of its partnership and equality in citizenship and the rights and duties that accompany it."
"The danger is imminent, and the disaster is close when a person cannot practice his legal duties and perform his social services except with permission from the unjust and corrupt regime," the statement went on to say.
"Therefore, in defense of religion, the sect's authority, the people's right in performing their duties, and in rejection to the regime's dominance over the rites of Islam, we call for this day to be the day of Bahraini rage. We call upon all believers to raise their voices high in the face of the regime, and fill the [protest] squares," the statement said.
"You should rest assured that all regime's miserable schemes will fail with the blessing of your faith, patience, and trust in God Almighty," the statement concluded.
