Bahraini MoI Warns of Prison, Fine Punishments for Sympathy with Qatar

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Ministry of Interior warned all residents of its country of prison and fining punishment for any sign of sympathy with Qatar, or rejection to the Bahraini government's measures.
In a statement Thursday (June 8, 2017), the MoI clarified, "Based on the Kingdom of Bahrain's sovereign rights, the sympathy, empathy with the government of Qatar, or the rejection of Bahrain's measures through social media, whether tweets or shares or any other verbal or written form, are deemed a crime to be punished by law up to 5 years in prison and fines."
The MoI concluded its statement saying that these measures "come in the framework of maintaining security, and protecting civil peace and the country's higher interests."
