Bahrain Mirror: The Qatari Al-Arab newspaper said that a Bahraini lawyer has filed a lawsuit against his government to cancel the latest political measures taken against Qatar.
Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Egypt had severed diplomatic relations with Qatar, exiled Qataris found on their territories and prevented their citizens from traveling or passing through Qatar.
The newspaper stated that lawyer Isa Faraj Al Bou Rashid filed lawsuit before the Bahraini courts against the Bahraini Cabinet and Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, aiming at stopping the siege imposed on Qatar. The newspaper added that Bou Rashid considered his country's measures against Doha arbitral.
According to the lawsuit's papers, which Al-Arab newspaper obtained a copy of, Al Bou Rashif said that the Bahraini community was surprised on the dawn of June 5, 2017 that the Cabinet took a decision cutting diplomatic ties with Qatar and banning Bahraini citizens from traveling to Qatar, residing or passing through it. He added that the Cabinet banned Qataris from entering Bahrain or passing through it, gave the residents and visitors 14 days to leave Bahrain and ordered to follow the departure of Qatari boats and ships to outside Bahraini waters.
The lawyer considered that the decision taken is in violation of the Bahraini Constitution and its provisions, adding that it severely damages the members of Bahraini community.
The Bahraini lawyer stressed that Qatar is an organ in the international organizations, which requires a UN decision, pursuant to Article 7 of the UN System as well as the International Criminal Court and a meeting held by the Security Council to discuss terrorism and its link to Qatar or other states. This was not done, thus, the charges against Qatar are political.
Al Bou Rashid indicated that several Bahraini families have blood relations with Qatar. This will damage all the Bahraini families living in Qatar.
The Bahraini lawyer highlighted that the government's decision restricts the freedom of Bahraini citizens, on terms of residence and movement. Al Bou Rashid demanded to cancel all the decisions issued by the defendants as they blatantly violate the articles of the constitution.
