Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Court of Appeals presided over by judge Mohammad bin Ali Al Khalifa and Abdullah Mohammad as a secretariat sentenced a suspect to 5 years in prison after he was convicted along with 7 others of burning tires in Al-Himla.

The first instance court had handed down 5-year jail term to 5 suspects over this case and 3-year jail term to 3 others, who are under 18 years, and ordered the confiscation of seized items.

The Public Prosecution accused the suspects of deliberately setting fire, along with other unknowns, on 13/8/2015, to movables that would put people's lives and money to danger and taking part, along with other unknowns, in an assembly of more than 5 persons, aiming at disrupting public peace, noting that they used violence to achieve the aim they gathered for. The prosecution also accused them of acquiring Molotov, aiming at putting people's lives and money to risk.

The appellant challenged the verdict. Yesterday, the court accepted the appeals in form but rejected it in substance and upheld the appealed verdict.
