Bahrain Mirror: After the "This is Bahrain" initiative led by the Royal Court turned into a civil society in May, the official Bahrain News Agency (BNA) said on Tuesday (July 12, 2017) that the society will launch in mid-August what it called "The Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration" and "The King Hamad Global Centre for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence"
Over the past few years, the "This is Bahrain" campaign has sought to whitewash Bahrain's human rights record through government sponsored tours that included European capitals and the United States. This public relations campaign aims at promoting "religious tolerance and freedoms in Bahrain", which the United Nations and international human rights organizations stress that Bahrain lacks.
While the authorities in Bahrain seek to promote interfaith projects, the country's Shiite majority complains of sectarian persecution and denial of religious and political rights.
