Bahrain Mirror: Local newspaper said that there are about 140 Bahraini unemployed doctors who were not employed by the ministry of health although they graduated 4 years ago.
The newspaper reported that a number of unemployed doctors appealed the minister of health Faika Al-Saleh to employ them in the governmental hospitals or health centers.
Doctors indicated that some have finished their internship and others took license to practice medicine. However, the ministry did not employ them due to lack of budget.
Doctors pointed out that their license to practice medicine is about to expire and they haven't been employed yet.
They went on to say that the ministry of health demands a small number of fresh graduates every year, while employment rate is only 20%.
They added that some departments in Al-Salmaniya medical complex face pressure due to lack of medical staff. Meanwhile, the ministry fails to employ them because doctors need budget for training.
Private hospitals in Bahrain employ large number of foreign doctors and can't embrace a large number of medicine graduates every year, doctors further stated.
They indicated that despite the low wages in the private sectors, they submitted more than once to work in private hospitals, indicating that if they work for a private hospital they will lose the priority to get employed in government hospitals.
Doctors stated that when job vacancies were announced, some doctors were interview, however only 20 of them were accepted.
