Bahrain Mirror: The Public Prosecutor's Office said they began their investigations on Wednesday (August 16, 2017) into phone calls that took place between Bahraini opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman and former Qatari Prime Minister Shaikh Hamad bin Jassim, which were aired on Bahrain's state television channel.

According to the statement, the Public Prosecution began their investigation into the telephone conversation, whose content "is related to the 2011 events" and included "the two parties of this conversation agreeing on how to deal with the situation at the time in a manner that would escalate these events and the continue the unrest and tensions in order to harm the interests of the country and jeopardize its stability, which thus constitutes a crime of communicating with a foreign state with the intention of harming the Kingdom's national interests."

The Public Prosecution concluded by saying that they would announce "the results of their investigations as soon as they are completed."

Bahrain state TV had broadcasted recordings of phone call conversations between Shaikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al-Thani and Sheikh Ali Salman, during which they talked about ways to conduct a dialogue between the government and the opposition and put an end to the political crisis. State TV; however, deemed it a Qatari coordination with the opposition to further cause protests in the country.
