Bahrain Mirror- Exclusive: Ariel Plotkin, Bahrain researcher in the MENA team at Amnesty International, denied the allegations of Bahraini Embassy in London that stated that periodic meetings are held with the organization.
Plotkin said on her Twitter account that "This is not true. Amnesty had no such meetings on September 7 with the Bahraini Embassy in UK nor did we have monthly meetings."
She added "Amnesty sent the Bahraini authorities a memorandum in June for them to respond to our report finding, but they did not respond."
For its part, the Bahraini Embassy responded to Amnesty official tweets stating "one of its diplomats met on September 7 with Amnesty representatives, explaining that the diplomat heads a human rights organization and is named Hassan Shafeei."
Amnesty has issued a report in which it said that at least six people had been killed, including a child, in the crackdowns. The report had documented how the Bahraini government, from June 2016 to June 2017, arrested, tortured, threatened or banned from travel at least 169 activists and opponents or their relatives.
The report accused Britain and the United States in particular of turning a blind eye to its abuses.
