Bahrain Mirror: The second high criminal court in Bahrain began on Monday reviewing the case of Mohsen Al Majed, who is sentenced to death over charges of involvement in the killing of Jordanian policemen Ali Zureiqat in Damastan, as well as the death of Haj Abdul Karim Al-Basri.

Al Majed was sentenced to death before the Court of Cassation overturned his sentence, since it was not announced in the decision referring him to the court of first instance.

The court adjourned the hearing until November 9, 2017, i.e. until detainee Al Majed is brought from his prison cell.

On December 15, 2015, the fourth Criminal High Court handed down its sentence against 23 defendants over charges of establishing and joining a terrorist group, and killing a member of the police force and another civilian.

International human rights organizations question Bahrain's justice system and Amnesty International has called for a fairer system that does not rely on confessions extracted under torture in trial proceedings.
