Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The Qatari Al-Jazeera channel mocked on October 20, 2017, Bahrain's act of resorting to naturalizing Asian nationals residing in the gulf kingdom for political reasons.
In the satirical program called "Above the Authority" presented by journalized Nazih Al-Ahdab, Al-Jazeera tackled the issue of naturalizing Asians in Bahrain and making them enroll in the elections. He played footage showing one of the electoral campaigns in which the candidate turned to an Urdu translator to talk to his voters.
Bahrain Mirror has previously shed light on how the Bahraini authorities resort to naturalized citizens- who were granted the Bahraini nationality for political reasons -to increase their candidates' votes allowing them to win the elections and use them to hold anti-opposition protests and pro-government rallies to express their support for the ruling Al Khalifa family.
