Parliament Approves Selective Taxation

Bahrain Mirror: The Parliament approved in its session (Tuesday November 7, 2017) the regulations of the agreement that unifies the GCC selective taxation, and thus they went contrary to the recommendations raised by the financial committee.
According to the draft law, selective good, especially those that pose harm to the health like tobacco, will witness a 100% taxation, while sodas and gaseous drinks will have a 50% taxation, and energy drinks will have 100% taxation.
The draft law will organize dealing with cases of tax evasion and its criminal penalties, tax recovery and exemption cases, registration for taxation purposes and licensing of a tax warehouse.
