Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Court upheld penalties issued against 22 suspects in a politically motivated case, in which the government accuse them, along with others, of establishing "terrorist group".
First instance court handed down whole-life sentences to 3 suspects, 7-year jail term to 3 others, 10-year jail term to a suspect, 5-year jail term to 28 suspects, and 3-year jail term to a suspect. The court also revoked the citizenships of 36 suspects, acquitted the 13th, 16th and 17th suspects of the charges mentioned regarding the referral order, and ordered the confiscation of seized items.
The authorities claim that the suspects established "terrorist group" to stage unlicensed protests and put hoax bombs.
One of the suspects sentenced to life imprisonment appealed the verdict and so did 3 convicts sentenced to 3 years. A convicted sentenced to 10 years in prison and 17 others sentenced to 5 years in prison also appealed the sentence.
