Al-Wefaq: Sheikh Ali Salman’s Trial over his Role in US, Qatari and Saudi Initiative is “Settlement for Regional Issues“

Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society condemned the Bahraini regime's insistence on trying opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman over charges of "colluding with Qatar" based on a US-Qatari initiative to put an end to the crisis.
The society wondered in a statement "how can colluding and revealing secrets be through a direct and announced phone call? How can it be deemed colluding and revealing secrets when the call was made while the Qatari foreign minister was talking from the Bahraini king palace? How is it called colluding when the initiative parties are the US Department of State and Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs? How can the charge be colluding when the other party in the initiative is the King, in person?"
Al-Wefaq considered that the insistence on prosecuting Sheikh Ali Salman over an initiative that one of its parties was represented by an official party, the King, "foretells a dangerous deterioration on the political, legal and diplomatic levels."
It stressed that Sheikh Ali Salman's responsiveness, who was representing the opposition, came as it was "adopted by the regime and came by a Saudi, Qatari and US invitation in March 2011."
The society affirmed that the US, Qatari and Saudi initiative was represented by the former assistant secretary of state Jeffery Feltman from the American side and former foreign minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal from the Saudi side, former Qatari foreign minister Hamad bin Jassim from the Qatari side. Meanwhile, the Bahraini king represented the regime and Sheikh Ali Salman represented the opposition. The Bahraini government hailed the Qatari role at that time and described it as positive and supporting to the Bahraini regime.
It pointed out that bringing a new legal case 7 year after these initiatives and after the Gulf disputes proves that this trial is among "a regional retaliatory campaign, which was reflected on the political, diplomatic, economic, humanitarian and even sports conditions. The phone calls were distorted and cut out of context and then Sheikh Ali Salman was accused of colluding with Qatar."
It indicated that the regime, jurisdiction and public prosecution cut the calls and hid the large and most important parts of them in an attempt to hide the truth of these calls and conceal the real subject discussed.
Al-Wefaq demanded to stop these inhuman and unethical actions that shows the judiciary, courts and the political mentality that control things in the country as if they are undermining all the treaties and agreements and offering them as a cheap sacrifice for revenge.
