Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Civil Aviation Affairs Authority (CAA) said it would take measures against the interception by two Qatari military aircraft of a UAE passenger plane en route to Bahrain.
The CAA said it would take action with the concerned international bodies by submitting a detailed report to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), despite the denial of Qatari authorities.
In a report on the incident, which was said to have taken place yesterday morning on January 15, 2018, it was reported that at 9:35 local time, two Qatar military aircraft coming from Qatar's airspace intercepted the EK837 flight of Emirates Airlines Boeing 777 coming from Dubai International Airport to Bahrain International Airport en route the UP 669 airway in a regular scheduled flight, meeting all requirements. The Qatari fighter jets came two miles close to the Emirates Airline aircraft, endangering the lives of passengers and crew members, forcing the air traffic controllers in the Kingdom of Bahrain to immediately intervene and take the necessary measures to maintain the safe flow of air traffic.
A similar incident was monitored, involving Emirates Airline EY23B flight from Abu Dhabi International Airport to Bahrain International Airport, which is being investigated.
