Bahrain Mirror: The First High Appeals Criminal Court annulled a verdict sentencing a suspect to 10 years in jail over putting, along with others, fake bomb on the public street, and acquitted the appellant of the charge brought against him, because he was arrested when the crime took place.

The public prosecution accused the appellant along with others sentenced to 10 years in jail of putting, along with other unknowns, on March 15, 2014, fake bomb and explosives on public streets, deliberately setting, along with other unknowns, fire to movables, for a terrorist aim, noting that the fire aimed at putting people's lives and money to danger. It also accused them of taking part, along with other unknowns, in an assembly of more than 5 persons, aiming at committing crimes and disrupting public peace as well as acquiring Molotov, aiming at using them to put people's lives and money to danger.

On August 28, 2015, a first-instance court sentenced all the suspects, including the appellant, to 10 years in prison and ordered the confiscation of seized items.

This incident proves that the confessions of suspects are extracted under duress and torture, as claimed by Human rights organizations that reject these trials and deem them political and void.
