Bahrain Mirror: The United Arab Emirates is planning to reroute flights to Bahrain to avoid Qatar's airspace. This comes as the UAE air force has been ordered "not to escalate" a civil aviation dispute with Qatar.
Brigadier-General Hilal Saeed Al-Qubaisi said in a UAE Air Force and Civil Aviation Authority joint press conference that the UAE military jets will take alternative routes over Saudi Arabia to avoid the possibility of being intercepted by Qatari military planes.
The UAE accused Qatari fighter jets of "intercepting" two Emirati passenger planes en route to Bahrain a week ago and has since filed a complaint to the UN.
The UAE claimed that Qatari fighter jets had flown within 1.2km of two flights descending towards Bahrain International Airport. Doha; however, denied the accusations.
