Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the largest opposition political society in Bahrain, said that the opposition leader and Al-Wefaq Secretary-General revealed in his session yesterday (Thursday, January 25, 2018) details about the phone calls between him and the former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim in March 2011.
Al-Wefaq indicated in a statement that the trial is related to the US-Gulf initiative that aimed at solving the political crisis in Bahrain. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa represented the regime in the initiative and Sheikh Ali Salman represented the opposition.
It added that "the court presented cut off, deducted and fabricated calls, and Sheikh Ali Salman revealed the size, type and details of the fabrications and deductions accurately before the court. Sheikh Ali Salman also revealed the information that was deducted from the calls and the size of the fraud, fabrication and tampering in the calls made during the Gulf-US initiative, of which the communications were a part. This was a real and clear disclosure of the amount of tampering, manipulation and lying that are practiced."
The proceedings of the hearing revealed that the Ministry of Interior seized 45 papers sent by Sheikh Ali Salman from prison to his lawyer. The lawyers did not receive them and the Ministry of the Interior have had them since four weeks ago (the ministry is a party in the case).
Al-Wefaq called for the suspension of this trial and not to continue in a case based on fabricated information, which puts the court before moral responsibility.
