3-Month Suspended Sentence Handed down to Drug Abuser in Possession of Rifle during Arrest

Bahrain Mirror: The High Criminal Court sentenced a Bahraini man to three months in prison, also fining him 500 dinars. An aerial rifle and nine bullets were seized from the backseat of his vehicle during his arrest over charges of narcotics abuse. The court ordered the suspension of three years' imprisonment for three years, starting from the date of final ruling, as well as the confiscation of the seized arms and ammunition.
The Public Prosecutor's Office charged the accused of acquiring and having possession of an aerial weapon and ammunition without a license, as indicated in the papers on September 27, 2017 at the security department of the Capital Governorate. In the ruling, the court stated that the the accused does not have any record of such crimes which led it to believe that he would not return to committing a new crime and thus suspended the sentence pursuant to Articles 81 and 83 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
