Bahrain Mirror: Head of the Civil Service Bureau Ahmed Al-Zayed said that in line with the government's direction towards rationalizing and reducing government expenditures, the Prime Minister issued an edict amending some provisions of the executive regulation determining salaries and benefits and prescribing eligibility conditions for employees who are subject to the Civil Service Law on February 11, 2018, for the purpose of canceling the expatriation allowance granted to non-Bahrainis via external contracts by some European and US countries.

The Head of the Civil Service Bureau explained that, according to the mandate of the Council of Ministers in its meeting held on November 13, 2017, the concerned parties in the Bureau in cooperation with the relevant government agencies took action to take the necessary legal measures to cancel this allowance by amending some provisions related to this allowance in the executive regulation determining salaries and benefits and prescribing eligibility conditions for employees who are subject to the Civil Service Law, promulgated by Edict 77/2013.

Regarding this allowance highlighted in the PM's edict issued on February 11, 2018 to amend some provisions of the executive regulation determining salaries and benefits and prescribing eligibility conditions for employees who are subject to the Civil Service Law, the head of the Civil Service Bureau explained that the legal necessity also entailed the cancellation of a phrase related to the expatriation allowance in the Article on social allowances in this regulation, without any change in the policy and procedures for granting social allowance to Bahraini employees under the civil service. He further stressed that the situation of current foreign employees will be addressed through comprehensive contracts to ensure protecting their entitlements.
