Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Public Prosecution refused to make available the full recordings of the phone calls between Bahraini opposition leader and Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq Society, Sheikh Ali Salman, and former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani.

The Public Prosecution only presented a CD containing a compilation of the clips broadcast by Bahrain TV.

Al-Wefaq had called on the government to air the complete recordings phone calls, pointing out that the editing was done for the sole purpose of incriminating Al-Wefaq Secretary-General.

The prosecutor's office accused Salman of communicating (spying) with Qatar over phone calls between him and former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani as part of a political endeavor to resolve the crisis that broke out in Bahrain in February 2011.

Sheikh Salman denied the accusations raised against him, while Qatar's Prime Minister commented on the charges in a television program, stressing that the "incriminating" calls were done with the knowledge of the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and within a Gulf-American initiative to settle the crisis.

For his part, Al-Wefaq's Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi stressed that Hamad bin Jassim had two phone conversations with Sheikh Salman, one in the presence of the King and the second with the former Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman.
