Bahrain Mirror: The first deputy speaker of the Shura Council Jamal Fakhro, and member of the joint technical committee of the Shura and House of Representatives, for studying the restructuring of government subsidies, said the committee is committed to lifting subsidies offered to dual nationals.

He added in a press statement after the meeting held on Monday (March 19, 2018) that the members of the Committee discussed today two principles, to which they expressed their adherence: "Principle XI and XII. The eleventh principle stipulates that dual nationals, who benefit from support of another state, must not benefit from government subsidies, while principle twelve states that every Bahraini, who has acquired the Bahraini nationality five years prior to the date of requesting support, shall be entitled to government monetary subsidies."

He explained that the Committee had asked the Government to proceed with studying the impact of the implementation of the other ten principles without the eleventh and twelfth principles, since they require a legislative amendment after guaranteeing its constitutional validity in accordance with the Cabinet, stressing that implementing principles XI and XII would take place in the cases that follow the promulgation of the law or the new amendment.
