Bahrain Mirror: The defense of Al-Wefaq's Secretary-General, Sheikh Ali Salman, revealed on Thursday (March 22, 2018) documented testimonies of an international expert, an office specialized in forensic evidence and a mediator from the US administration as well as a testimony of Abdul-Nabi Salman, former president of the Progressive Democratic Forum.
"All the testimonies rejected the charges categorically and the case and its references collapsed by conclusive evidence," Al-Wefaq said.
It further stated "The two official documents issued by two different international technical bodies revealed that the call, on which the case is based, is cut off, fragmented, manipulated and fabricated. This means that the foundation of the case has collapsed, and it is reflected in all the other details."
Mr. Chibli Mallat, a constitutional law professor, has testified. He is one of the intermediaries assigned to the initiative by the US administration who followed the US-Gulf initiative.
Abdulnabi Salman, former president of the Progressive Democratic Forum and one of the prominent national figures that followed the US-Gulf initiative - which was modified by the regime 7 years later and turned into a case of colluding - also testified and denied the charges altogether.
Al-Wefaq stressed that the technical and objective testimonies by respectable international bodies that the defense revealed reflect the amount of suspicion found in the case and the level of its maliciousness.
The society added that the case "has fell apart and all its elements have completely collapsed, stressing that the fraud and lies by the public prosecution and the court leaves the door wide open for lies and comic plays in the courts of Bahrain in order to punish dissidents."
The court presided over by judge Ali Al-Dhahrani adjourned the case until April 24.
