Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain has hired a high-profile US law firm to help convince the Donald Trump administration to go easy on new tariffs imposed on solid and aluminum imports.

Media outlets said that the Bahraini government assigned Miller & Chevalier's office to provide legal advice and assistance to the Bahraini Embassy in Washington for $110,000, in order to pressure on Trump's administration in terms of tariffs. These details were shown in official papers documented at US Department of Justice.

United States announced suspending 25% tariffs on steel and 10% on Aluminum for Argentina, Australia, Brazil, South Korea, Canada, Mexico and the European Union.

Politico website said that Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates are both major aluminum producers, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The Emirates are expected to fight for exemption from the tariffs, too

"Everybody is going to be calling in their chits and trying to make their points about why their exemptions make sense, but not everyone will be successful," Danny E. Sebright, the president of the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council, told The New York Times.

Al-Monitor website stated that in the context of those warming relations, Bahrain is unlikely to overreact to the tariff announcement. Countries seeking exclusion from the proposed US tariff have until May 18 to lodge their complaints with the Commerce Department.
